This is going to be a great salon style show of rejected proposals…open interpretation, everything submitted will be accepted.

Call for Artists - Alumni and Current Students at Pacific Northwest College of Art:
The Refusalon @ STORE

STORE is currently seeking submissions of a different nature for our March show, The Refusalon. We will be accepting all proposals sent to us for inclusion in the show, the only requirement is that the proposal has to have been refused in the past.

The Refusalon will be a curatorial exercise performed by Nelleke Mack as well as an opportunity for work that has been judged by few for exclusion, to be seen by many.

All proposals can be sent to Zachary Sea at: zacharysea@gmail.com

Proposals sent to us by alumni and current students of Pacific Northwest College of Art will be accepted as long as they have been refused by others, the definition of that other is up to the artist.

The deadline for proposals is: February 20th, 2011.

The opening for The Refusalon will be held on March 12th from 5:30-8:00pm at STORE.

TJ Norris “Mirroring the Inevitable”

TJ Norris’ Mirroring the Inevitable
Artist’s Round Table Discussion: Saturday January 29th (4 - 5pm)
700 SW Fifth (3rd floor) Pioneer  Place Mall, downtown Portland
Contact: placepdx@gmail.com

You are invited to a panel-like discussion of TJ Norris’ Spread Ego, his performative installation at PLACE. Norris’ project raises questions of vulnerability, trust, risk-taking, and acceptance and these topics and more will be addressed during the discussion.

MODERATOR(s): Gabe Flores and Palma Corral
PLAYERS: Cynthia Mosser, Gabriel Liston, Becca Bernstein, Gwenn Seemel, Horia Bobia, Laurie Danial
SUBJECT: TJ Norris

What I am most interested in emerging in Spread Ego is a sense of letting go of my own image to a sense of trust, acceptance, perspective and gaze. In these works artists are fully allowed license to fill certain gaps, flaws included. As I age my body changes and things find settle and disruption. Spread Ego incites and embraces that change.” - TJ Norris

The discussion will begin promptly at 4pm.
